Dance Base, Edinburgh
Award winning project comprising the conversion of the existing building in the Grassmarket into a main entrance and dance studio together with the new build construction of three further dance studios and ancillary accommodation on the steeply sloping site leading up to Johnston Terrace just beneath Edinburgh Castle. Each dance studio is designed to have its own character with the principal studio having views through a glass roof to Edinburgh Castle. A major award from The Scottish Arts Council funded the project with additional funding from Edinburgh World Heritage Trust and LEEL.
